Established in 2017 and proudly Aboriginal owned and led, Sobah is Australia's first non-alcoholic craft beer company run by husband-wife team Clinton and Lozen Schultz. We're based on beautiful Kombumerri country known as the Gold Coast, Queensland.
Sobah is a place with sun and surf where a fresh, crisp drink can be enjoyed without the headache.
We were born from a desire for providing a better choice for those who are not drinking for whatever reason at whatever time.
Founded by Gamilaroi man and psychologist, Dr Clinton Schultz, Sobah functions from the philosophies of Gamilaraay Lore ‘dhiriya Gamil’. These include acting from a position of respecting people, place and the environment; understanding and working towards fulfilling responsibilities to that we are connected to; and, engaging in positive reciprocity.
Therefore we have a responsibility to give back, to create opportunities for others, to encourage sustainable and healthy ways of living, and to assist in bringing about positive changes.
The Sobah Story
Sobah was founded in 2017 from the desire to provide a better choice for those who no longer wanted to consume alcohol but love the taste of beer. Being first-to-market in Australia, Sobah is one of the few "no-lo" category founding companies that led the shift in drinking habits in Australia by being at the forefront of the sober curious movement and sharing an authentic story.
Sobah's premium non-alcoholic craft beers are infused with Australian native fruit and spices. The core range includes Lemon Aspen Pilsner, Finger Lime Cerveza, Pepperberry IPA and Davidson Plum GF Ale (gluten-free). Vegan-friendly and preservative free, Sobah is real beer for when you’re not drinking.
Sobah promotes healthy lifestyle choices and wellness, social equity, sustainability, raises positive awareness of First Nations culture, smashes stereotypes, unites people and, of course, our beers quench thirst.

An introduction from the founder
My name is Dr Clinton Schultz, proud Gamilaraay man, psychologist, and founder of Sobah Beverages – a First Nations business that brings you Australia’s first non-alcoholic craft beer. I just wanted to take a moment to say yaama (hi) and welcome you to the mob!
I created Sobah in 2016 after two years of being sober and feeling frustrated at the lack of decent adult non-alcoholic drinks available in Australia. While I didn’t want to drink booze anymore, I really loved the taste of beer! So, with a bit of research and some yarns with brewers in Europe, I figured out a way to make great tasting non-alc beer that no one else was doing here.
Since 2017, Sobah has helped build what is now Australia’s fastest growing drinks category. Sobah’s range of awesome brews has grown and soon I’ll be sharing news about Australia’s first non-alc brewery!
We’re on a mission to champion Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, native foods and well-being, and through our unique range of brews help to reduce the stigma around socialising sober.

FAQs
1. Your cans say “Less than 0.5% ABV” on the label. What does this mean?
Sobah’s range of non-alcoholic craft beers are less than 0.5% ABV (alcohol by volume) which is less alcohol than what is found in kombucha, sourdough, overripe fruit and OJ that’s fermented a tad. Sobah is a real beer brewed with malt, hops and yeast, and it undergoes a fermentation process which naturally produces alcohol, yet it’s a very insignificant amount. By legislative terms, any fermented or brewed beverage that has less than 0.5% ABV it’s considered “alcohol-free” or “non-alcoholic” but we will always only ever refer to our brews as “non-alcoholic”.
2. Is it safe for pregnant and lactating women to consume Sobah beer?
Technically, yes. However, we suggest that if there are concerns, yarn with your GP about what is safe for you and your baby.
3. Is Sobah beer okay for a recovering alcoholic?
Sobah is real beer and has all the flavours of real beer, and this taste may be a trigger for people who’re avoiding alcohol. We suggest you decide what’s suitable for your individual concerns. If you need support, yarn to your GP.
4. Can Sobah beer help me stop drinking?
